College FAQs

Who advises students in your school/college?

Professional Staff Advisors

The Student Services and Advising Team, including the Dyson Registrar, guides students through the full arc of their educational experience by partnering with them, as their authentic selves, and providing support as they grow academically, professionally, and personally. We educate students regarding degree requirements, degree progress, course selections, petitions, and off-campus course evaluations. Academic Advisors can assist students in understanding and gaining connections to resources that can assist students in working through circumstances and anxieties impacting their academic and overall well-being.

How do I know who's my assigned advisor or advising team?

Dyson students are not assigned an advisor and can see an advisor in the Dyson Office of Student Services and Advising.

How do I make an appointment with an advisor?

When should I meet with my advisor?

The Dyson Office of Student Services & Advising should be a student’s go-to resource. Students are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor at least once a semester to discuss degree progress and course selections. Additionally, Academic Advisors support students in matters related to academic support, well-being, campus resources, and funding support.

Four Advising Areas

Academic Focus

Economics touches nearly every aspect of modern society. That’s why we love it when people ask, “Why is it important to study applied economics?” Our faculty, alumni, and students make a difference across industries and the globe with Dyson’s deep expertise in finance, consulting, technology, consumer packaged goods, agribusiness, and other areas.

Experiential Learning

We take the “applied” portion of applied economics seriously. From internships to international experiences, student research opportunities, and engagement with industry partners, real-world learning is a hallmark of a Dyson education. The four-year undergraduate experience culminates with a senior capstone in which student teams help a client company address a societal problem.

Community and Belonging

Our vision is for the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management to be the premier school for a diverse and inclusive climate of belonging, successfully preparing graduates for social impact change to address the business challenges of our diverse, interconnected world. The Dyson Belonging Space located in Warren Hall as well as diverse programming allows the opportunity for students to learn more about themselves and others.
